Collaboration in Action: Highlights from the EPPS Open House and Community Resource Showcase

On January 30th, the School of Economic, Political, and Policy Sciences co-hosted the EPPS Open House and Community Resource Showcase alongside the Public and Nonprofit Management Program. The event welcomed local business, nonprofit, and government leaders from across the Dallas-Fort Worth area to campus, providing an opportunity to learn about the programs and initiatives housed within EPPS.

The primary goal of the Open House was to build bridges between the school and community partners, fostering collaborations that could lead to new opportunities for students. Whether through internships, job placements, or joint initiatives, EPPS aims to create mutually beneficial partnerships that facilitate talent exchange and resource sharing.

Throughout the event, attendees engaged with Dean Jennifer Holmes, Program Heads, and faculty to gain insight into the curriculum and the skill sets students develop through EPPS programs. The showcase also highlighted key initiatives such as the Initiative for Civic Leadership, which provides talented students from across UT Dallas with the opportunity to learn and intern with local government and community organizations.

The Public and Nonprofit Management Program took the opportunity to present its diverse offerings, including certifications, capstone projects, and internships. Attendees also learned about CONNECT and the Association of Fundraising Professionals, two initiatives designed to prepare students for leadership roles in public service and nonprofit sectors.

As these new relationships and opportunities take shape behind the scenes, EPPS looks forward to sharing exciting developments with students in the near future. The success of the Open House marks the beginning of strengthened collaborations that will benefit both the university and the broader community.
