My Work

I am vice president and direct operations and business development for a food service firm, Chelsea’s Catering and Bar Services, which is part of the exclusive catering team at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center and the Alamodome in San Antonio. Additionally, I am the founder of JEL and Associates, a management consulting firm focusing on community outreach and governmental advocacy.

I am a graduate of Leadership San Antonio, past chairman of the Food Bank of San Antonio and South Texas and the Valero Texas Open golf tournament, and recipient of the North Chamber of Commerce career achievement award.

Prior to attending UT Dallas, I was in the U.S. Army’s 1st Calvary Division and received my associate’s degree from Mountain View College. While at Mountain View, I was a member of the National Honor Society of Junior Colleges and Phi Theta Kappa.

The Value of My Degree

My degree has opened many doors for developing opportunities with local, state and national forums. The University of Texas at Dallas has a tremendous reputation for high academic achievement and scholarship. It is a game changer for anyone hoping to make a name in this great state.

My EPPS Success

My success can be attributed to a group of really caring professors, counselors and administrative staff at UT Dallas. They all took a personal responsibility in my well-being. Also, the student body during the time I was there was just terrific! We challenged each other to do our very best at all times … and worked in study groups frequently.

Advice for EPPS Students

I would tell any student in EPPS to go for it! Be the best that you can be. Strive for excellence in all aspects of your life. Remember, a setback is a step-up for a comeback! You will succeed if you think you can. Winners never quit and quitters never win – it’s a good motto to live by. You are so blessed to be at UT Dallas – it will take you far in the world.
