UT Dallas Achievements

I was a CONACYT scholar, a scholarship program with the Mexican government. Thanks to this scholarship and the agreement between CONACYT and UT Dallas, I was able to complete my doctoral degree.

My Work

I teach courses related to poverty and inequality in the U.S., Mexico’s political economy and Latin American politics. My research agenda covers: evaluation of social assistance programs and Mexican elections.

Honors/accolades, additional degrees received, and/or previous work/positions held

Before my doctoral studies when I was living in Mexico, I worked as an instructor at Tec de Monterrey (Guadalajara Campus) and Universidad de Guadalajara. I was also Head of Special Projects at the Planning Department of Guadalajara’s City Hall (2004-2007).

The Value of My Degree

My PhD has helped me redefine a new lifestyle. I have a broader and more analytical perspective of current social problems. It has opened new doors for professional opportunities.

My EPPS Success

The amazing faculty I worked with: Dr. Brian Berry, Dr. Patrick Brandt, Dr. Jennifer Holmes, Dr. Sheila Pineres, Dr. Euel Elliot, Dr. Jargowsky, Dr. Sheryl Skaggs. They were always very cheerful and willing to help.

Advice for EPPS Students

I would suggest to always look at the big picture and be passionate about your career goals. Everything is possible with hard work and dedication.
