Celebrating 50 Years of Campus Folk Songs from Taiwan: A Musical Journey with BeyondChords
About fifty years ago, college students in Taiwan ignited a spontaneous pop musical movement by composing and performing their own songs, giving rise to a new genre known as “Campus Folk Songs.” This movement brought a fresh vibrancy to contemporary pop music and has since resonated deeply with generations of young people across Taiwan and Chinese communities worldwide.
BeyondChords, a local singing group inspired by this very tradition, is proud to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Campus Folk Songs. With members who grew up influenced by this music, the group aims to foster connection and friendship through their performances. Join us for a special concert in 2025 to mark this milestone. The event will take place at the University of Texas at Dallas (SSA UTD) on February 22, 2025. What better place to celebrate the legacy of Campus Folk Songs than on a University Campus which embodies the spirit of innovation and youth?
