Deciding on Public and Nonprofit Management

As the Founder and Executive Director of a nonprofit, I was gaining a lot of experience in management. I was also becoming increasingly aware of the impact of the public sector, laws, and the economy on my clients. The importance of sectoral collaborations was also becoming evident. Although my previous two degrees prepared me for managing programs, volunteers, clients, and external relationships, they did not prepare me for these new revelations. Therefore, I decided to pursue this degree. This degree has not only addressed these questions but has also given me insight on concepts I had never been known. The opportunities afforded me through this program have been life-changing.

My EPPS Success

My tips for success are engagement in continuous conversations with professors and students. Attend conferences and build relationships. Networking is key.

Plans for the Future

In my immediate future, I am looking forward to adjunct teaching while working in an organization centered around international development.

Advice to Prospective EPPS Students

This experience has been very rewarding. I am so glad I decided to enter the program. For prospective students, I suggest studying hard and forming relationships with fellow students, professors, and staff members. UTD has so many opportunities, and professors and staff are very willing to help students. Take advantage of as many opportunities as you can.
