The University of Texas at Dallas proudly hosted the inaugural North Texas-Taiwan Technology Summit on January 15, 2025, bringing together prominent leaders from academia, industry, and government to strengthen global collaboration in technology and innovation. This event marks the beginning of an ongoing initiative, with future summits planned to continue fostering international partnerships.
This landmark event served as a dynamic bridge between Taiwan and North Texas, fostering discussions on resource exchange, talent development, and collaborative networks—key themes that will drive future partnerships and advancements.
The summit welcomed distinguished guests, including Yvonne Hsiao, Director General of TECO; Dr. Fuh-Sheng Shieu, Founding Minister of Taiwan’s Ministry of Environment and Former President of NCHU; Dr. Jerry Shih, Professor and Former Vice President of NCHU; Dr. Yung-Chung Kao, President and CEO of Intelligent Epitaxy Technology; and Brent E. Omdahl, Senior Vice President of Government Affairs at GlobalWafers. In addition, representatives from TCCNA, TECO, NCHU, GDTCC, the State of Texas Taiwan Office, and UT Dallas faculty contributed to the summit’s success.
The success of the summit was made possible through the leadership of William Tsao, Chief Organizer, and Laurence Chiang, President of GDTCC, whose efforts helped bring this initiative to fruition. Additionally, UT Dallas members Dr. Joe Pancrazio, Dr. Juan González, Dr. Inga Musselman, Dr. Jennifer Holmes, Dr. Jennifer Hilton Montero, and Dr. Karl Ho played a pivotal role in realizing this vision on campus.
This summit marks an exciting step forward in strengthening international collaboration and advancing technological innovation between North Texas and Taiwan.
