Inviting Students to Teams

  • Once the Team is created, you need to invite students to the group. The OIT guide doesn’t cover this.
  • There are 2 different ways to invite members
    • Use the “get link to Team” link. This sends students directly to the Team, prompting them to open the app.
      It seems that using this method requires that you then approve each addition as students join. You will also get an email for each student request.
    • In the Team settings, you can generate a “Team Code.” Armed with that Team code, students can choose the “join a Team” link once they open the app and enter the code.
      Using this method you do not have to approve each entrant.

On the one hand, providing the link means less explanation for how to join (“follow this link” compared to “Go here, download this, click that, enter this.”). On the other hand, though, students will have to wait for your approval before being able to access the Team if you go with that way, in addition to the number of emails generated.
