Dr. Jennifer Holmes, Dean of our School of Economic, Political and Policy Sciences, was selected to participate in the United States Army’s Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC) Cadet Summer Training 2025. Each year, the United States Army Cadet Command selects Centers of Influence (COI) from across its more than 270 schools and universities to spend a few days at Cadet Summer Training, Fort Knox, KY, to immerse themselves in the training and activities of the cadets from their respective schools.
Dean Holmes spent two days participating in various training events, including the field leader reaction course, rappel tower, and confidence course. Centers of Influence are individuals, by virtue of their relationship with and access to ROTC prospects, who are capable of directly or indirectly influencing these potential prospects to seek more information about ROTC. Annually, UT Dallas Army ROTC cadre can nominate various school officials to attend Cadet Summer Training.
This year, Dean Holmes and her staff have been instrumental in establishing the Comet Battalion Army ROTC program at UT Dallas as a provisional extension of the University of Texas at Arlington. UT Dallas’ Army ROTC program has grown by more than 60% in a year due to the dedication and commitment of the UT Dallas staff and cadre to recruit quality students who will one day become future United States Army commissioned officers.
