EPPS Professor Honored for Contributions to Field of Juvenile Justice

EPPS Assistant Professor, Dr. Yeungjeom Lee, was recently awarded the 2023 Tory J. Caeti Memorial Award. The award is meant to recognize the significant contributions to the field of juvenile justice by young scholars like Dr. Lee. The Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences (ACJS): Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Section is sponsored by the Department of Criminal Justice at the University of North Texas, the nomination alone is a great honor.

Founded in 1963, the ACJS is an international association aimed at fostering professional and scholarly activities relating to the field of criminal justice. With over 2,000 members, the organization has made efforts to acknowledge the efforts of those facilitating important research and improving the field.

With relevant research ranging from the study of Substance Use & Crime to that of Developmental Life-Course Criminology, Dr. Lee’s growing research portfolio in the area of juvenile justice and delinquency caught the attention of the Academy. She was also a recipient of the 2022 Early Career Award and the 2023 New Scholar Award.

“The awards motivate me to continue striving for excellence in my field and to make a positive impact on the world,” said Dr. Lee. “Although research is not easy, it’s worth the struggle.”

Dr. Lee’s selection as the newest recipient of this award is a testament to her dedication, expertise, and continued efforts. We congratulate Dr. Lee on this well-deserved honor and look forward to seeing the continued impact of her work in the years to come.
