The Bachelor of Arts in Public Health, housed in the School of Economic, Political and Policy Sciences was approved in Fall 2023, with expanded class offerings beginning in Spring 2024. The program quickly became a growing major, attracting students interested in understanding and improving health at the community, state, and global levels. The program also is preparing a proposal to offer a Bachelor of Science in Public Health as well in future years.
The BAPH program equips students for diverse roles within the health care system, including positions in community-based, private, public, and nonprofit organizations. Students also gain the skills to work with local, state, and global health agencies, such as the U.S. Public Health Service and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The curriculum provides training in social epidemiology, statistics, research methods, and program development and evaluation, offering an excellent foundation for further graduate study.
Due to growing demand for advanced public health training, UT Dallas has partnered with UTHealth Houston School of Public Health to offer an Accelerated Master’s Program. Starting in their junior year, students can earn a Graduate Certificate in Public Health while completing their bachelor’s and then transition directly into a Master’s program at UTHealth Houston. Students can pursue fields such as Epidemiology, Biostatistics & Data Science, Community Health Practice, and Healthcare Management.
