EPPS Celebrates International Education Week

The School of EPPS celebrated International Education Week (IEW) with a slate of activities designed to give students a global experience without ever leaving home. Students participated in Global Conversations focused on the UN Sustainable Development Goals, played Global Trivia at a standing-room only event, learned about volunteering for the Peace Corp, and competed for the best photo in the FIFA World Cup Jersey Contest.

EPPS students who studied abroad last summer also returned to take part in a panel discussion entitled Student Voices: What Study Abroad Meant to Me. The shared their insights into their experience in Paris, France and Lugano, Switzerland in Summer 2022.

Co-sponsored by the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Department of Education, IEW is an opportunity to celebrate the benefits of international education and exchange worldwide.

EPPS kicked off its week of IEW activities with a Peace Corp Prep Info Session that featured Don J. Holly, regional recruiter for the Peace Corps Office in Dallas. It was followed by the Student Voices Panel, which showcased the two EPPS pilot projects for faculty-led study abroad.

The UN Student Association at UT Dallas organized the Global Trivia game, which was followed by Global Conversations facilitated by EPPS freshmen. Modeled after DePaul’s Global Conversations, students discussed topics ranging from the Impact of Climate Change on Human Health to the Benefits and Potential Risks of Technology in Education.

EPPS rounded out the week by announcing the winners of its social media contest for the FIFA World Cup Jersey.
