
Graduate Certificate of Crime Mapping and Analysis
This certificate emphasizes criminal justice and criminology-related subjects. The aim of the certificate is to train the student in the necessary knowledge and skills to gain employment as a crime mapping analyst. Those include Geographic Information System (GIS) and analytic techniques as well as theories and concepts of crime and criminal justice.
The mission of the Crime Mapping and Analysis Certificate program is to offer a structured pathway for students in the Criminology and Criminal Justice Program, as well as professionals in the criminal justice field, to obtain certification upon completing a curriculum focused on the core competencies sought by criminal justice agencies when hiring crime mapping analysts.
Admission Requirements
Students seeking the Crime Mapping and Analysis certificate must have completed an undergraduate degree from an accredited college or university or its equivalent. Applicants should apply as “Graduate Certificate in Crime Mapping and Analysis” students. Admissions to the certificate program requires only an application to UT Dallas graduate school, which can be completed online, and an undergraduate transcript.
