Dean Jennifer Holmes and Senior Associate Dean Dohyeong Kim hosted the 19th International Conference on Crisis and Emergency Management (ICCEM) at the University of Texas at Dallas from September 18–20, 2025. The three-day conference convened 58 scholars from eight countries who shared research and policy insights under the theme “Social Crises and Multi-disciplinary Approaches: Value, Leadership, and Collaboration.”
The program opened with welcoming remarks by Dean Holmes, who highlighted EPPS’s interdisciplinary strengths and its integration of AI and big data into crisis research, followed by congratulatory messages from international leaders in crisis and emergency management. Across plenary and parallel sessions, participants examined a wide range of topics: climate-induced infrastructure vulnerabilities, social and health crises, AI applications for disaster management, and governance innovations for resilience.
Overall, the 19th ICCEM underscored how universities, governments, and practitioners worldwide are increasingly interconnected in facing climate, health, and social crises, with UT Dallas serving as an important hub for dialogue and leadership in this global field.
