Major: B.S. in Public Affairs, Minor is Political Science
Expected Graduation Date: December 2025
Growing up, I involved myself in public and nonprofit organizations without realizing it at the time. I enjoyed volunteering for my local food bank, and working as a city employee at my first job for my neighborhood recreation center. When it came time to declare a major, I reflected on those experiences, the ones that made me passionate about civic engagement, and the choice was clear.
I’m grateful to have found a community within the Public and Nonprofit Management department in the EPPS program. Every day is a new conversation and a new opportunity to learn from such a diverse group of faculty and students. I admire how tight-knit our program is, where I feel comfortable talking to anyone at any level in their academic pursuits, and take something away every time. Overall, EPPS has helped me grow personally in ways I never thought possible and gave me a kickstart to my academic journey that I am forever grateful for.
I hope to move forward in my academic track and pursue a Master’s in Public Administration, and afterward explore government careers within the fields of advocacy, urban planning, and policy.
Be okay with the ebb and flow of college. These next couple of years will challenge you academically, and personally at times, but it will be rewarding nonetheless. There may be times when you question your journey, but what matters is finding the courage to keep trying. Fortunately, EPPS has a great support system of advisors, professors, and peers that are rooting for you every step of the way.
