Apply Now: GIS Scholarships Available for 2025-2026

The Geospatial Information Science (GIS) Program at The University of Texas at Dallas, in partnership with Pioneer Natural Resources Corporation, is pleased to announce the return of multiple scholarship opportunities for the 2025-2026 academic year. These scholarships provide financial support to outstanding students pursuing GIS education and research.

Available Scholarships

Fast-track Graduate Fellowships Award

  • Amount: $3,000 each
  • Eligibility: Full-time students in the GIS Fast-track graduate program
  • Requirement: Must be a U.S. citizen

Graduate Fellowships Award

  • Amount: $2,500 each
  • Eligibility: Current graduate students and newly admitted students in the UTD GIS program
  • Requirement: Must be a U.S. citizen

Transfer Student Scholarship Award

  • Amount: $3,000
  • Eligibility: High-achieving student transferring from a local community college
  • Requirement: Must be admitted to the UTD GIS program and a U.S. citizen

Pioneer Student Research Fund

  • Amount: Varies (typically up to $1,000 per year)
  • Purpose: Supports students in purchasing data, software, hardware, and covering travel expenses for fieldwork or academic conferences
  • Eligibility: Open to both domestic and international students
  • Additional Benefits: Out-of-state students may apply for in-state tuition support through this fund, subject to available university funding. Teaching Assistants (TAs) may receive priority for travel-related expenses.

How to Apply

  • Application Deadline: March 31, 2025, by 11:59 PM CST
  • Decision Notification: Mid to late April 2025
  • Scholarship Disbursement: Awards will be distributed after the start of the Fall 2025 semester
