Dr. Rodney Andrews, associate professor of economics in the School of Economic, Political and Policy Sciences, has been appointed Fellow of the Vibhooti Shukla Professorship of Economics.
Dr. Andrews has been a leader in translating the policy impact of his research to a broad audience. His educational research has appeared in Forbes, the Houston Chronicle, U.S. News and World Report, the Hechinger Report, and EdWeek. (We will add links to all of these). Dr. Andrews also published an article in the Wall Street Journal on the tendency of economics journals to ignore of race and discrimination.
In terms of funding, Dr. Andrews has one of the most successful records in the school. Since 2010, he has been awarded 21 grants as a Principal Investigator at UT Dallas, totaling $1.9 million in funded research. His research has been supported by the Arnold Foundation, the Bill and Melinda Gates, the Greater Texas Foundation, the Smith Richardson Foundation, and the Russell Sage Foundation.
In addition to having a record of success in research and external funding, Dr. Andrews served as director of the Texas Schools Project from May 2011 to July 2015, and currently serves as the center’s research director.
Dr. Andrews is also widely recognized in his field, currently serving as a board member of the Association for Education Finance and Policy (AEFP) and previously, as a board member of the National Economics Association (NEA).
