Deciding on Political Science

I’ve always had an interest in politics and law throughout my life growing up. I enjoy reading articles on current events centering around those categories as well as on an international level, it helps to have a much open-minded perspective of the world and what is going on. I also enjoy learning laws and how they can get challenged, so I thought majoring in Political Science would be best suited for me because I would be expanding more on my knowledge and interests in these topics.

My EPPS Success

Trying to do everything and anything, with putting commitment as well as showing my best effort. When I joined multiple organizations, it has paid off with making connections, to have exposure of what I can be doing around my interests, and to grow on the skills that I needed to work on.

Plans for the Future

After I graduate from UT Dallas and earn my BA in Political Science, I would like to work as a Foreign Diplomat Officer so I can travel the world while working in embassies doing immigration. I want to be handling passports, visas, and interviewing people especially if they are required to have a visa to be in another country.

Advice to Prospective EPPS Students

Make connections with both the EPPS faculty and with other students on campus, it is super beneficial because you will never know what kind of impact you will leave behind them no matter how big or how small. Visit office hours for the professors to get to know them better because can give advantages, and they can help you with job applications as well. But with the students on campus, be intentional with making the connection work especially if they are trying to interact with you. Join organizations that best suits your interest because that is the place where you will probably have the most fun, destress from studying long hours, and it will probably pay off in the long run. Do things that are uncomfortable and out of your comfort zone because they can help you grow to become a better version of yourself. Last but not least, but most importantly, do not forget the main purpose of being at UT Dallas, and that is that you are a student pursing that degree. Make sure you have good time management and balance your time well with studying and organizations, so you won’t neglect your GPA.
