Major: B.S. Geospatial Information Sciences, Minor Political Science
My interest in environmental policy led me to Geospatial Information Sciences. Although I originally entered as a Political Science major, I was interested in the hands-on research applications of GIS. GIS is a powerful tool to identify vulnerable areas and model future environmental change. In my career, I hope to use GIS to build data transparency and strengthen climate resiliency planning.
Building community at UT Dallas. Even with the COVID-19 pandemic, I was able to form connections to students and professors across campus. This led to a partnership with the university-wide Sustainability Committee, having the opportunity to conduct research with Dr. Cummings in Guyana, and long-lasting friendships.
I plan to pursue my PhD in Urban Planning and work as a Regional Climate Planner for a federal government agency, such as FEMA or the EPA. My goal is to strengthen municipal climate planning through increased federal research and implementation guidance.
