Economics
Economists study how people make choices in life in response to the incentives and tradeoffs that they face. Economics is a broad-ranging discipline that examines all types of markets, industrial and labor organizations, the distribution of income and ownership rights, governmental activities, and political and economic philosophies.
What is the advantage of economics at UTD?
Economics majors earn more (read more about this here) and our EPPS economics students don’t pay supplemental tuition (learn more), making majoring in economics an excellent value and good investment.
Our faculty includes economists who have acquired national and international reputations, received many grants and awards, and served as members of the editorial boards of a number of highly respected academic journals such as the Southern Economic Journal, Economics of Education Review, and Defence and Peace Economics.
Economics degrees lead to careers in research and higher education, corporations, government, labor, and regional and urban planning services. An economics degree is considered excellent preparation for law school or pursuing an MBA. As a group, economics majors are known to score the highest on the Law School Admissions Test (LSAT) and compose the highest percentage of majors who are CEOs in the Fortune 500. Our graduate students staff the Econ Lab in GR 3.416 (Galveston Room) to assist students who need help with undergraduate economics classes.
